Peru Apex: Jeinner Vasquez Microlot, Organic
Higher Grounds Trading

Star Fruit • Lemon Poppy Seed Bread • Bright
Jeinner's coffee is being sold in 10 oz bags as part of our Gold Label Apex Series. We only received one burlap bag of these green beans, so get it before it's gone.
Jeinner’s 2025 harvest is another stunner—bursting with tropical fruit, zesty citrus, and an undercurrent of brown sugar sweetness that brings structure to the cup. While it’s a washed-process coffee, there’s nothing conventional about it.
This Geisha variety is as wild and expressive as any natural-process microlot, and it’s easily one of the most adventurous Apex releases of the year.
The lemon-poppy seed bread note gives this cup a vibrant, almost pastry-like finish, while the star fruit and tropical citrus tones keep it crisp and complex. It’s an exciting cup to play with, especially for those who enjoy dialing in delicate coffees on their filter brewer or experimenting with extraction techniques.
This is Jeinner’s second year featured solo in our Apex lineup. We first purchased Jeinner's coffee back in 2019, and over the years we’ve seen his Geisha develop into something truly exceptional. Last year’s release turned heads—this year’s lot builds on that foundation with even more layered sweetness and aromatic brightness. Jeinner is a fan favorite at Higher Grounds.
Jeinner’s story began with curiosity—first about Geisha, and then about what it meant to push quality forward on a small farm. He planted his first seeds after learning about the variety’s potential in Panama. Since then, his work has inspired others in Cajamarca to pursue excellence with this delicate and high-reward cultivar.
Jeinner’s parents support him during the harvest, and the whole family is part of the Sol y Café cooperative. Interest in Geisha has grown steadily in the region, and Jeinner has been a key part of that momentum.

This one’s meant to spark conversation—between brewing nerds, black coffee skeptics, and anyone curious about how far coffee can stretch beyond the familiar. Jeinner’s Geisha is not just a flavor experience—it’s a window into the future of Peruvian coffee.
