Milk Chocolate • Carrot Cake • Salted Caramel
Miguel's coffee is being sold in 10 oz bags as part of our Gold Label Apex Series. We only received one burlap bag of these green beans, so get it before it's gone.
Miguel Padilla Chinguel’s coffee is back—and it’s just as delicious as ever. This light/medium roast offers a smooth, pastry-sweet profile that’s comforting, approachable, and sneakily complex. Think creamy milk chocolate, the spiced richness of carrot cake, and the buttery finish of salted caramel. It’s the kind of coffee you could brew every morning and never get tired of.
This is a washed-process blend of Bourbon and Caturra varieties, grown at nearly 1900 meters in Cajamarca, Peru. It’s not aiming to shock your palate or win over fermentation trend-chasers. Instead, it’s built for balance, sweetness, and everyday pleasure—a coffee that shines for what it is, not for how wild it tries to be.
Miguel’s coffee is for people who love coffee. It might remind fans of our Justice Blend of their favorite cup, but with a lighter body and more nuanced sweetness. Whether you’re a casual drinker or a methodical home barista, this one’s a quiet star—reliable, elegant, and satisfying from the first sip to the last.
We first purchased coffee from Miguel in 2024, and it was love at first roast. That year, his lot earned 3rd place in Peru’s national Golden Cup competition hosted by the Coordinadora Nacional de Comercio Justo—an incredible honor awarded to Fair Trade cooperatives across the country. This year’s harvest builds on that reputation with clarity, sweetness, and balance that lives up to the name.
Cooperative: Sol y Cafe Roast level: Light/Medium A unique mix of Bourbon and Caturra beans, sweet and welcoming. Words just don't do it justice, but brewing it will. |
We hold up our Apex Series as the highest expression of what’s possible in coffee—and Miguel’s lot reminds us that “exquisite” doesn’t always mean flashy or extreme. It’s an honor to share this coffee and the name of the farmer who grew it, prominently featured on every Gold Label bag. The Apex Series isn’t just about roasting great coffee. It’s about honoring our Farmer Partners, and recognizing the skill, intention, and tradition behind each exceptional cup.
